Tolerance Tests -- Guidelines
Tolerance Testing. Review match results in order to validate a current linkage model or improve a linkage model for use in future matches. Analyze comparisons with tolerances (Tolerances) to help choose the best tolerances for your linkage. In general, increasing tolerances will reduce false negatives but increase false positives. The tolerance test examples show that using a tolerance with Age would not improve the linkage model (m probability is near 0.99 with or without a tolerance) but using a tolerance with StdHour would improve the model (m probability increases from 0.81 to 0.98, reducing probability of error from 0.19 to 0.02).
